Part-Time Cook – Ella McFadden
As a YMCA Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals in a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. You will help support the health and well-being of children by ensuring all meals meet required guidelines and are served on time. This role requires strong time management, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment.
Rate of Pay: $13.50 per hour
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks daily for approximately 85–90 children
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring all equipment and surfaces are sanitized
Follow all food safety regulations and YMCA guidelines to ensure quality and safety in meal preparation
Maintain meal counts and required food service documentation as directed
Ensure meals are served timely and in accordance with daily schedules
Communicate effectively with staff and maintain a friendly, team-oriented attitude
Arrive to work on time and be prepared for daily tasks
Monitor inventory levels and notify appropriate staff of supply needs
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel
Qualifications:
Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Food Handler’s Certificate preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Experience:
Previous experience working in a kitchen environment required
Experience preparing large-scale meals strongly preferred
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to follow recipes and nutrition guidelines
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
Work Environment:
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds
Work involves exposure to kitchen equipment, cleaning chemicals, and food preparation areas
