The successful candidate:

Schedule: Rotating Weekends (Generally 10:30 AM 7:00 PM; Possible Early Shift 5:30 AM 2:00 PM)

The Cook is responsible for preparing high-quality, nutritious, and visually appealing food and beverage items for patients, customers, and staff, including those under specialized dietary care. This role ensures all food preparation aligns with the organizations nutritional guidelines and complies with sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards. The Cook also supports daily kitchen operations and completes tasks as assigned by leadership.

Minimum requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Culinary Arts education preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in food and beverage, hospitality, or a high-volume hospital cafeteria setting preferred

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Food Handlers Permit from the County/State Health Department (required if mandated by state; required in IL )

  • Certification from an ANSI-accredited food handler training program or obtained within 30 days of employment ( required in IL )

  • ServeSafe certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
