The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Building Superintendent, under general direction, the Porter / Door Attendant is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of Columbia University's apartment buildings and grounds area.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and maintains the building and grounds complex:
  • Elevators, stairways, corridors, windows, floors, laundry rooms, vacant apartments, etc.; trims trees and shrubs; fertilizes, seeds, and mows lawn; sweeps and hoses sidewalks; removes snow and spreads salt as needed.
• In addition, the Porter / Door Attendant will screen persons entering the building, announce visitors, and assure building security.
• Lobby must be kept clean and neat at all times.
• All incoming and outgoing packages will be handled by this employee.
• Neat appearance and excellent command of the English language are extremely important.
• Heavy lifting may be required.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or its equivalent required.
