Description:
- PRN Non-Benefited (Will be scheduled to work as needed)
- Location: Silver Spring, MD
- Department: Pain Management Center
- Is responsible for greeting, welcoming and assisting patients and visitors entering the Department. Offers support, guidance and information as able to patient, visitor and colleague inquiries made in person, by phone, or via electronic communication. Supports department leadership/staff to facilitate the smooth running of daily operations. Supports outpatient intake, scheduling/rescheduling, new patient paperwork and check-in processes.
- Reports to Department Director
Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and visitors
- Informs staff when patient arrives for scheduled appointment
- Answers questions, provides information and provides directions to patients, visitors and colleagues
- Answers phone, manages caller needs, takes and relays messages. Recognizes priorities and communicates in a timely manner
- Check and manage voicemails
- Directs calls to appropriate resources
- Inform staff of patients disposition or cancellation status
- Seek out information as requested by staff to facilitate patient management
- Ordering office supplies
- Assemble new patient charts; ensure essential documents are available for first appointment
- Ensure front desk has necessary supplies/printers are properly stocked
- Attend staff meetings; facilitate completion of sign-in sheet; file staff meeting documents
- Collect co-payments
- Print daily outpatient schedule
- Disposition outpatients in the Electronic Medical Record
- Document patient intake/referral details on appropriate form
- Schedule/re-schedule outpatients as appropriate
What you will need:
Required:
- High School graduate
- One year experience in a physicians office or hospital/medical environment
- Basic computer and typing skills
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills as evidenced by professional recommendation
- Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends the English language
- Must be willing and able to become proficient navigating the hospitals Electronic Medical Record
Preferred:
- Basic knowledge of medical and insurance terminology preferred
Pay Range: $17.58 - $21.63
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
