Seasonal Maintenance Worker II - Park Mowing

Description

The City of Roanoke's Parks and Recreation Department is hiring two Seasonal Maintenance Workers to support the care and upkeep of over 60 city parks. This role focuses on landscape maintenance and mowing operations across outdoor public spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine landscaping tasks such as mowing, trimming, edging, and debris removal.

• Operate and maintain power tools and landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, weed eaters, blowers, edgers).

• Support general maintenance efforts to keep parks clean, safe, and welcoming.

Qualifications:

• Ability to operate landscaping tools and mowing equipment.

• Attention to detail and commitment to task completion.

• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

• Able to work independently or as part of a team.

• Valid Virginia driver's license required.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Prior experience in manual labor or landscaping (1-3 months) preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
