&nbsp&nbsp Ellendale Public School is seeking applicants for a head cook for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants should have excellent communication and organization skills. The work schedule follows the school calendar with additional days for summer training and kitchen prep before school starts. Salary starts at $17.00 / hour but is dependent upon education, skills, and experience. Benefit package available.

Qualifications

1. High School graduate
2. Be able to lift boxes up to 50 pounds, reach up to high shelves, bend to low shelves, stand for extended period of time, and operate existing equipment;
3. Meet required Health Dept. and DPI certifications for this position;
4. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities;
5. Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Duties The following are essential duties for the position:

1. Supervise and instruct hot lunch personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment;
2. Maintain positive relationships with school staff, students, and parents;
3. Present a positive image of the school to the public;
4. Remain current regarding regulations pertaining to sanitation in kitchens, dress of cooks, safety, and techniques in handling food;
5. Check food shipments into the school;
6. Determine the quantities of each food to be prepared daily;
7. Determine the size of serving to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served;
8. Prepare food according to a planned menu;
9. Record all food requisitions from the storeroom, and record all meals served;
10. Oversee the locking of the storeroom, and the maintenance of a correct monthly inventory;
11. Prepare monthly menus;
12. Supervise the daily cleaning of the kitchen.
