The Food Service Worker - Catering performs a variety of food service functions including but not limited to preparing and assembling food items, setting up stations, serving and replenishing food. The Food Service Worker - Catering cleans and sanitizes workstations, counters, steam tables and other equipment. Relies on established guidelines to accomplish tasks. Works under close supervision. Specifically the Food Service Worker -Catering who spends a majority of their time in catering is responsible for coordinating activities of catering services. Essential Functions: 1. Reviews catered functions on a daily basis, and plans for preparation of items based on requested service times. 2. Delivers food, dishes, and any needed supplies to appropriate rooms. 3. Inspects set up for proper selections, attractiveness, palatability and temperature of food. 4. Maintains log of food items and any additions once event occurs. 5. Assists in receiving, inspecting, storing and dispersing food items and supplies ordered for events. 6. Maintains department storage areas for catering supplies in compliance with sanitation standards. 8. Follow HACCP guidelines as per policies and procedures. 9. Crosstrained to support the Cafeteria: Serve food, operate cash register, reconcile cash deposits per cash handling policies, stock merchandise, and work equipment in area. 10. At times may assist in other areas of dept including but not limited to: MD Lounge, Cafeteria, and Patient Areas. 11. Other duties as assigned throughout the Department by the Nutritional Services Supervisor and/or Management team.
Food Handling Including Preparation and/or Delivery
Ability to deliver/pick up patient tray line, open/close cafeteria, set up/pick up catering events, or set up/pick up doctor lounges in a timely manner.
Always friendly and helpful, using good judgement when dealing with guest problems and maintains good traffic flow.
Sanitation and/or Cleaning
Areas are kept cleaned and well stocked at all times.
Maintains cleanliness and safety of kitchen and work area.
Adheres to infection control and sanitation procedures.
Teamwork
Cooperates and performs duties as assigned by supervisor and willing to adjust schedule to complete work load and perform task promptly and correctly.
When requested, adjusts personal schedule to meet department/unit needs.
Utilizes time to accomplish work in an efficient manner.
Ensures job duties are complete prior to leaving.
Knowledge of basic customer service skills by dealing tactfully and courteously with employees, physicians, patients and guests

Demonstrates the knowledge of small equipment usuage and reports problems to supervisor.
Adheres to hospital policy on the usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.
Reports to work on time, and if necessary, reports tardiness to approprate person.
Maintains a professional appearance, according to job requirements, at all times.
Employee shall conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.
Attended all required mandatory educational sessions.
Responds approprately to fire, safety and diaster situations. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate manner for optimal personal protection.
Adheres to infection control practices. Has completed required TB skin test(s).
Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
Accepts additional work assignments as assigned by supervisor.
Experience - 1 year experience
Education - High school or equivalent
Training - Food Handling and/or Safe Food Handling Training, Customer Service Training
Special Skills - Reading, Writing, Simple Mathematical Skills, Computer Basics
