GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Provide exceptional food service that exceeds the guest's expectations. Create a memorable experience for guests using excellent guest service skills. Have a clear understanding of our service standards and meet these expectations on a daily basis. Exhibit complete knowledge of food, beverage, and services the Space Needle provides.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows Steps of Service and Timing Guidelines as outlined in the server manual and maintain proper server etiquette, approach guest with positive, courteous attitude at all times.
  • Exhibit full knowledge of food and beverage offerings for each specific event.
  • Knows and is responsible for Engaging, Merchandising, Excellence & Proficiency, and Teamwork standards.
  • Complete required set-up under the direction of the banquet captain and banquet manager including table detailing prior to opening.
  • Ensure food/beverages are served at the proper temperature with correct presentation.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction throughout dining experience.
  • Maintain side work duties throughout shift. Assist other servers in table clearing and re-setting to prevent delays when turning rooms.
  • Provide Service Recovery at all times regarding guest and co-worker interactions.
  • Complete closing duties, as defined, and checks out with banquet manager and/or banquet captain at end of shift.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by banquet management.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reliable in attendance and punctuality, uses proper time clock and sign in/out procedures.
  • Maintain the highest in uniform and grooming standards by adhering to both company and departmental uniform standards.
  • Knowledge of Space Needle policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Fire/Safety/Life procedures.
  • Promote a positive and professional attitude to all internal and external guests.
  • Run food to all tables in all sections to assist other servers during "free" time.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must have a minimum of one-year food serving experience in a high-volume, full-service banquet environment.
  • Must have very good knowledge of food and beverage including wine and food pairing suggestive techniques.
  • Excellent grooming and communication skills necessary.
  • Requires the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Class 12 or Class 13 Alcohol Service Permit, and a valid Washington State Food Handler's Permit.
  • Always remains professional and works well with others.
  • Walking, standing, reaching, and lifting (30 to 50 lbs.) entire shift. Must be able to lift 35-50 lbs over one shoulder using large serving tray. Typical shift is approximately 6-8 hours.

Hourly Rate: $21.76 - $21.76 / hour (+ tips)
