JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Summary: The Food Service Assistant (FSA)assists the Food & Nutrition Services Supervisor (FNSS) to ensurebreakfast, lunch, and snack services rendered at St. Joseph Academy(SJA) are consistent with accepted national food handling standards, SJAmission and values, the policies and procedures of the institution, andthe standards of all regulating and licensing agencies. The FSA performsa variety of food preparation services in the delivery of the SJAchildren\'s breakfast, lunch and snack delivery. The FSA performs avariety of sanitary services during all breakfast and lunch services.The FSA is responsible for equipment operations, sanitization; facilitycleaning, and trouble shooting in production area to alert management ofequipment malfunctions and/or failures. The FSA will fill in forvacation and absences of other Food Service staff. Qualifications: Highschool degree or GED preferred Experience in food service/kitchenpreferred Safe Serve Certification required within 6 months Bilingual inSpanish a plus Demonstrated ability to analyze an issue, identifyoptions, and implement solutions Interest in working with a childpopulation Ability to work cooperatively with people in and outside ofFood & Nutrition Services department Ability to communicate (verballyand in writing); effectively interact with children, families, and staffmembers Possesses good hand-eye coordination Ability to read, write andfollow directions and instructions Detail oriented; ability tomulti-task, set priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines JOBDESCRIPTION Essential Job Functions/Duties Extends excellent service toall children Assures each child\'s right to privacy and confidentiality,at all times Models behaviors that foster the \"child-centered\"philosophy to other staff Uses a variety of communication methods toproactively identify, anticipate, prevent, or address issues andinter-department concerns, problems, or conflicts Maintains safety andsanitation standards in work areacleaning and sanitizing area after eachassignment according to established department guidelines Operates andsecures all equipment and supplies in a safe manner, according todepartment standards to safeguard children, and co-worker\'s health andwell-being Set-up of cafeteria for Academy lunch services (includeswashing tables, mopping floors, pulling up tables), as needed Trashremoval in kitchen Manage kitchen stock as delivered, including dating,rotating, organizing stock room and cleaning Labels, dates and restocksall food items and supplieslegibly enough to prevent errorsprior to,during, and after each meal service; ensuring proper wrapping andstorage according to department quality control standards Deep cleaningof kitchen, garbage cans, fans, overhead vents, coolers,\...
