Job Title: STUDENT Groundskeeper SUMMER TEMP STL

Department: Maintenance

Reports To: Property Supervisor

FLSA Status: Nonexempt - Temporary position

Salary Grade: $14.51/hr

SUMMARY

Maintains school and residential grounds by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Indicates the non-essential duties and responsibilities. Nothing in this job description restricts St. Labre's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.



  1. Mows lawns.

  2. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, and walls.

  3. Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or remove damaged leaves, branches, or twigs.

  4. Sprays lawns, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.

  5. Cleans grounds, streets and sidewalks and removes litter.

  6. Shovels snow from walks and driveways.

  7. Spreads salt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup.

  8. Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.

  9. Waters lawn and shrubs.

  10. Repairs fences and gates.

  11. Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.

  12. Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, shears and mower blades.

  13. Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, spreader, and snow removal equipment.

  14. Collects trash and takes to dump site.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School and College Students ONLY

One to six months related experience and/or training preferred

  1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  2. Ability to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently.

  3. Ability to follow oral instructions.

  4. Ability to interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

  5. Mechanical aptitude.

  6. Ability to work alone and stay on task.

  7. Respects the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ in private, personal, and public life.

  8. Commitment to the mission of the Roman Catholic Church in Native American education.
