Position Summary:

The primary role of the Banquets Bartender is to provide high-quality beverage service to guests attending banquets, weddings, conferences, and other special events hosted at the hotel. This role involves preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring responsible alcohol service, and delivering exceptional customer service. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, beer, wine, and soft drinks, according to established recipes and standards.
  • Greet guests, take beverage orders, and provide excellent customer service by answering questions about the drink menu, making recommendations, and ensuring guests' needs are met promptly.
  • Verify the legal drinking age and adhere to responsible alcohol service guidelines, including monitoring guest intoxication and refusing service when necessary.
  • Ensure that all beverages are presented in an attractive and appealing manner, with garnishes and appropriate glassware.
  • Monitor and manage beverage inventory, including ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
  • Set up the bar area before events, including stocking supplies, glassware, and ingredients. Clean and restock the bar area during and after events.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, follow safety guidelines, and adhere to food and beverage handling regulations.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Familiarity with responsible alcohol service and legal drinking age regulations.
  • Ability to travel and work off premises.
  • Ability to open liquor bottles, wine bottles, cans and other containers.
  • Ability to utilize wrench, slicer, ice scoop, blender, coffee maker, wine tool, soda gun, speed pourer, and strainer.
  • Ability to mix drinkable drinks on demand, containing a consistent content of alcohol and other ingredients.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds; push and pull equipment, supplies, etc., at least 100 pounds.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • The role may require extended periods of time on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.
  • Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Concierge activities.
  • Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.
