The starting rate for this position is $18.18 with a $2,000 sign on bonus. This is an on-site position.

Vinson Hall Retirement Community (VHRC), a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community, located in beautiful McLean, VA is currently seeking an energetic team player to join our team as an experienced Cook.

The primary responsibilities for this position include:

• Performs daily maintenance checks for equipment operation, temperature control, and safety standards. Advises supervisor of needed maintenance repairs. Ensures that all Federal and State regulatory and licensure requirements are met.
• Reviews daily menu, pulls and preps all items necessary for menu requirements and special functions. Prepares and distributes food for residents, guests, and employees according to established production guidelines and sanitation standards.
• Ensures that all food items are covered, dated, properly stored and stacked. Discards outdated or potentially unsafe/contaminated food.
• Ensures that all hot foods are "hot" and cold foods are "cold", meeting Fairfax County's Health Department's mandated minimum and maximum temperatures.
• Participates in catering of special functions. Is involved in the planning and implementing of special holiday menus.

Requirements for this position include:

• A minimum of two years of experience in a commercial restaurant or health-related industry required.
• One to two years of trade school education desired.
