FOOD SERVICE ASSOCIATE
Primary Purpose:
Support education by providing nutritional meals to students in a timely manner. Responsible for daily operations of Food Service Department according to standard operating procedures. Maintain professionalism and courtesy while communicating clearly and effectively with administration, students, and other guests. Perform routine food service activities related to setting up serving areas, receiving and serving food, performing cashiering duties in the sale of food items, and maintaining cleanliness of food service facilities by following food safety guidelines to prevent cross contamination and foodborne illnesses.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Food Handler certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with administration, students, and other guests
Experience:
- Food service experience preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Be a role model; uphold school vision of nurture, character, discipline, and academic excellence.
Prepare food service facilities with supplies and equipment based on daily needs.
Prepare chemical solutions for sanitizing and cleaning. Maintain clean and sanitary conditions.
Receive, temp, and put away time-temperature controlled foods/beverages quickly while following food safety guidelines to prevent foodborne illness. Take accurate temps every hour and recalibrate thermometer as needed.
Serve students accurate portions in a timely manner while keeping foods from entering temperature danger zone.
Restock food/beverage supplies according to procedures; assist in storing unused supplies and disposing of leftovers and garbage.
Receive payments and make appropriate changes. Reconcile cash box and turn in money daily. Properly record reimbursable meals.
Operate a variety of equipment such as Point of Sale (POS) computer software, food warmer, etc. Report faulty equipment as needed.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Assist with cafe monitoring and other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Working Conditions/Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Frequently standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing to move and restock supplies.
- Clean food service areas, and empty trash.
