Description
The Department for Facilities and Support Services, Division of Building Services is responsible for preventive maintenance, general repairs, small construction projects, janitorial and landscaping services. Also, many other essential day-to-day building functions.
Our Facility Maintenance Worker II's are key members of the building support staff. They interact daily with tenants, visitors and other staff while performing and coordinating service and maintenance activities. The primary mission of Building Services is to ensure a safe, clean, professional environment for the conduct of the Commonwealth's business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tenant relations
- Preventive maintenance and minor repairs
- Janitorial services
- Assist in coordinating major repairs and/or projects.
- Setups and moves.
- Safety and emergency management
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Leadership
- Customer Service
- Janitorial or Housekeeping Experience
- Basic construction and/or other related trades (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Good written and verbal communication
- Basic computer literacy

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: NONE
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
