#### Position Objectives:The Facilities Maintenance maintain Town-owned property by performing general labor to keep public areas such as beach accesses and sidewalks clean and free of debris. The Facilities Maintenanceis also responsible for maintaining bathrooms and facilities at Town Park, Town Facilities, public beach accesses. This position requires work hours during the week, weekends, holidays, and some nights.#### Duties and Responsibilities:***These duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the Town***- Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools to perform a wide array of construction,- Maintenance, and repair tasks associated with Town facilities, grounds, beach accesses and parks.- Perform inspections, preventative and routine maintenance, and basic repairs on facilities, grounds and equipment- Assists with cleaning facilities, grounds, streets, courts, walkways, beaches, including picking up trash, clearing debris, and moving refuse to appropriate areas- Assists with special events by installing signage.- Directs traffic during events as needed.- Works a rotating shift schedule that includes daytime hours, evening hours, holidays, and weekend hours, depending upon the needs of the department- Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.- Always maintains a clean work environment.- Performs street/sidewalk maintenance as assigned (sweeping, filling holes, etc. )- Maintains and repairs physical structures and buildings for all Town-owned facilities ensuring safety hazards are eliminated such as debris, broken glass, water leaks, and other safety hazards.- Sets up tables and chairs and rearranges furniture as necessary for scheduled meetings and events throughout the year.- Reports needed maintenance and repair work and may perform minor maintenance and repair work such as: changing light bulbs, unstopping toilets, and drains, hanging pictures, and touch-up painting.- Cleans beach accesses and project sites, including picking up trash, clearing debris, and maintaining grounds..```{=html}```- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.**Additional Job Duties:**- Help Facilities Services/Environmental Services when needed for special cleanings#### Minimum Requirements:**Working Conditions:**Employees are subject to inside environmental conditions having the lighting, temperature, and noise of an open floor-plan office environment.The employee is primarily exposed to outdoor conditions and may be frequently exposed to weather conditions, including rain, wind, varying temperatures, etc.In addition, the employee must effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high workplaces, extremely loud noises, hazards of driving, hazards associated with traffic control, and working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made disasters. Work performed in this job may place the employee at risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens.**Physical Requirements:**Travel is required to both indoor and outdoor sites to perform the duties described above, as well as to attend meetings, training, events, and other activities.Work requires standing, walking, running, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, lifting, carrying and/or moving equipment, pushingand pulling various objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating assigned equipment, including motor vehicles.The employee must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee must read and write and interact with others in perso , over the phone, and via other devices.#### Desirable Training and Experience:Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job such as those listed above.Licenses and Professional CertificationsNC Drivers LicenseKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of general maintenance techniques related to the area of assignment; basic mechanical concepts; basic plumbing and electrical repair techniques; safety requirements; equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, and repair activities; trimming techniques and cleaning materials.Skilled in using hand and power tools, painting, communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.Ability to represent the Town professionally and respectfully while interacting with diverse individuals within the workplace and the community.#### More Information:This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to municipal operations in a coastal community setting.
