Mechanic Job Description We are seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maintenance, motor troubleshooting, and electrical maintenance. You will be responsible for installing, adjusting, and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic plant equipment. Additionally, you will perform general mechanical functions and repairs on various plant equipment, vehicles, buildings, and facilities. Responsibilities Install, adjust and maintain all mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic plant equipment. Perform general mechanical functions and repairs on plant equipment, vehicles, buildings, facilities or instruments. Execute general skills such as welding, basic fabrication, pipefitting, HVAC, electronic scale repair, pump repair, pump seal rebuild, and basic line equipment repair and rebuilding. Utilize a PM or work order system to track all issues, ensuring clear communication with the Maintenance Supervisor regarding items needing attention. Install new machinery and equipment. Complete general repairs such as painting, patching walls, and security hardware. Maintain inventory of assigned tools and related supplies. Keep tools and machinery in good condition. Inform the supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions, corrective actions taken, and quality problems or supplies needed. Maintain a clean work environment both inside and outside the facility, employing good housekeeping habits. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools, examining form and texture of parts. Essential Skills Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience. Proficiency in preventive maintenance and electrical maintenance. Ability to lift up to 100 lbs as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications No specific certifications or medical requirements. Work Environment Work hours are Monday to Friday, from 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, averaging at least 45 hours per week. Occasionally, weekend work may be required for project completion, but it is not the norm. The team consists of approximately 10 members who maintain a fun and engaging work atmosphere. The plant runs 24/6, but maintenance does not. Candidates should be comfortable working around hazardous chemicals, with protective gear provided when necessary. Uniforms are supplied for daily use, including steel-toed boots and eyewear. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Des Moines, Iowa.
