Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a General Maintenance Engineering I to join the hotel's opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. The property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Position Summary

A General Maintenance Engineer l will be responsible primarily for general maintenance and repairs in guest rooms, meeting space, and front of the house areas. Guest room and public area entry-level preventative maintenance are included. A General Maintenance Engineer will also perform some repairs on mechanical, electrical, kitchen, and laundry equipment, requiring some skills and experience in these areas, as well as good communication skills.

Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

• Perform a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of general building and grounds including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks;
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment.
• Respond to guest requests for service according to company policy. Keep records of rooms completed.
• Clean, lubricate, protect, and otherwise maintain all tools and equipment in the hotel.
• Learn emergency procedures.
• Complete various additional tasks and assignments as needed.

General Maintenance Engineer I Requirements and Qualifications

• A minimum of one year building maintenance experience is required, preferably in the hotel industry.
• Good customer skills are also required.
• Experience with basic plumbing and electrical systems in building maintenance
• Experience with scissors lift will be an asset
• Consistently practices safe work habits including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations.
• Excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Computer proficient in Word and Excel
• Must be able to work on tasks with minimum to no supervision.
• Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting equipment (up to 50lbs unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, stooping, crawling or walking while carrying out job functions.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time outdoors and indoors in working conditions exposed to heights, noise, vibration, heat, water, chemicals, fumes and dust.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule; weekends, holidays, overnight shifts.
