Ontario Convention Center Concessions/Banquet Server Department: Food & Beverage Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager/Supervisor/Director of Food & Beverage Classification: Part-time Hourly, Non-Exempt Compensation: $19.00 an hour Position Summary: This is a hands-on position, with the goal of achieving customer satisfaction and retention in both catering and concessions. From providing the highest degree of professional catering service to providing exceptional food & beverage event day service at concession stands. All while exhibiting a warm, friendly and professional demeanor to build relationships that will enhance the guest experience. Essential Functions: Reports for work in proper uniform according to the scheduled time. Follows instructions for each event as given by the Food & Beverage Manager or Supervisor Assists with collecting all banquet equipment to include flatware, china, glassware, and serving pieces needed for each event. Assists in maintaining, organizing and cleaning all equipment Attention to detail and consistency in every aspect of service Ensures all signage is properly displayed for each event Must adhere to the Company dress code which includes wearing black pants and non-slip soled closed toe shoes Obtain assigned workstation at beginning of shift Greet guests in a warm and welcoming manner Accurately use POS system while serving high volumes of guests in concessions stands Expedite guest food orders in a timely manner at concession stands or portables Stock product, set up condiment stations, cashier stations and display baskets Thoroughly complete all station set-up and breakdown responsibilities Practice proper product control and handling of all inventory and equipment Partner with other team members to ensure food and beverage quality Assist in preparation of food items Check concessions equipment to ensure proper use Understand and execute responsible alcohol service Understand and maintain proper sanitation and food safety Be comfortable with the convention center and know how to navigate personally, as well as, assist guests with direction if needed. Help maintain and ensure excellent customer service. Abides by all Company policies in the Human Resources Policies and Procedures, the Business Code of Conduct Assists with preparing garnishes, beverages, condiments, and breads. Assists with cleaning and filling salt and pepper containers, sugar dishes, creamers, etc. Assists with preparation and set-up of event room when necessary. Prepares tables with place settings as instructed by the Food & Beverage Manager and/or Supervisor Attends pre-function meeting for briefing of event details. Remains at assigned station and perform duties as assigned according to each event. Reports any customer concerns and/or complaints to Manager or Supervisor. Breaks down tables and banquet equipment after each event. Cleans and returns serving pieces to proper storage area. Performs other duties as assigned and deemed necessary. Experience/Training/Education: Required: Minimum of six (6) months' work experience in service-oriented environment. License/Certificate: Food Handlers Card A valid food handler's card is required for this position. The company will cover the cost of the training and the time spent completing the course will be on the clock. The certification must be obtained within 30 days of the hire date. RBS Certification Knowledge/Abilities/Skills: Knowledge of: Catering services and terminology along with concession knowledge Strong guest service skills Ability to: Get along well with others Receive and carry out instructions in a timely manner Working weekends, Holidays and irregular hours are required. Provide a two-way communication and nurture an ownership environment with emphasis in positive motivation and teamwork Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to interact with all levels of customers and staff including management. Be detail oriented Present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times during the workday Excellent organizational and planning skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with all staff and vendors Must be energetic, self-disciplined with a strong sense of initiative, is detail oriented and has a passion for delivering exceptional guest service. Physical and Environmental Requirements: This position requires performing repetitive eye/hand coordination; daily lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. above shoulder level for up to 5 minutes at a time; constant standing, walking, stooping, reaching, and handling objects; not subject to adverse conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility; to stand for long hours during events; talk and listen. This position may require work inside or outside of the building, as needed by events.
