Job Description
Summary/objective
Event setups/ Custodians provides setup and breakdowns of events occurring on and off the campus. This requires the placement of tables, chairs, Pipe & drapes, stages or any other event setup equipment that is required. Attends weekly scheduling meetings with the Building and Grounds Scheduler and keeps close contact with the college scheduler as well. The event setups person also replaces light bulbs across campus and maintains a bulb recycling room also. General cleaning and floor care service using a variety of specialized chemicals and equipment. They work in a variety of environments; working from a schedule identifying specific areas and tasks they are to complete each shift. Custodians may be asked to cover other areas in the event of a co-worker's absence or work additional hours or on weekends if needed to meet service requirements.
Essential functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Move tables and chairs to each setup and breakdown after the event is complete.
Provides assistance with inner office moves.
Assist's custodian workers across campus as needed.
Sweeping, dust/wet mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing, refinishing, buffing hard surface floors; cleaning of carpeting.
Cleaning of furniture, including desks, filing cabinets, lockers, chairs, etc.
Restroom cleaning, including fixtures, supply dispensers, commodes, showers/tubs, etc.
Trash collection and removal to dumpsters; cleaning of containers.
Maintain Physical Education Department and Maier Museum facilities for scheduled events.
Snow removal and dispensing of ice-melt chemicals.
Competencies
Experience in institutional cleaning is desired, but is not required.
On the job training provided.

Physical demands
Requires full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking. Must be able to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Requires ability to operate motorized equipment requiring manual dexterity. Must have good vision, with or without corrective lenses.
Must be able to understand/follow basic safety precautions involved in the use of maintenance materials, the operation of the hand and power tools, and use of personal safety items.
Must be able to understand/follow basic safety precautions involved in the use of cleaning chemicals, the operation of motorized equipment, and personal safety items.
Must be able to understand and follow a work schedule and complete assigned tasks in the time allotted.

Required education and experience
High school grad or equivalent
1 year of custodial experience.
Additional eligibility requirements
1 year of custodial experience in Higher Education or K-12 preferred but not necessary
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States. Pre-employment criminal background check.
