Custodian

CustodianDUTIES:* Set up and clean lunchroom area daily* Shovel snow and maintain clear walkways as needed* Open and close building to ensure security* Assist visitors with directions and equipment setup* Move furniture and equipment for school activities* Clean white boards, erasers, classrooms, and common areas regularly* Remove graffiti and report unsafe conditions or damage* Sanitize restrooms and drinking fountains daily* Vacuum carpets and manage trash and waste in compliance with procedures* Follow body fluid control, asbestos handling, and safety protocolsREQUIREMENTS:* High school diploma or GED* Ability to read safety rules, instructions, and manuals* Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, anddivision* Ability to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally and perform physical laborOTHER REQUIREMENTS:* Ability to pass a physical examination* CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain* Ability to work independently and maintain effective relationships withstaff and students* Must be able to work safely with mechanical equipment and cleaning chemicalsPREFERRED SKILLS:* Previous custodial or maintenance experience* Familiarity with school building safety and cleaning proceduresWAGE: $16.20 $23.88 per hour (based on education and experienceper East Otero School District Classified Salary Schedule, Custodial Pay Scale)SHIFTS: Full-Time, 12-month contractJOB SITE: La Junta, COBENEFITS:* Medical, dental, and vision insurance* Retirement plan options* Paid time off and holidays* Uniform allowance and safety training* Employee assistance programsAPPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:If you meet the minimum requirements for this position, please click onHow to Apply to view application information.
