Job Summary:
The Park Cleaner plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and welcoming atmosphere of public parks. This position involves routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including the use of equipment such as leaf blowers, as well as respectful and professional interactions with all park visitors, including individuals experiencing homelessness. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, and committed to upholding community standards.
Pay: $23.15 an hour
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicants experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
Shift: Wednesday - Sunday 2pm - 10:30pm

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning of park grounds, including litter removal, restroom sanitation, and emptying trash receptacles.
- Use tools such as leaf blowers, brooms, and pressure washers to maintain clean walkways and landscaped areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of picnic areas, playgrounds, walking paths, and other park facilities.
- Report maintenance issues such as broken equipment, graffiti, or safety hazards.
- Engage respectfully with all park visitors, including individuals experiencing homelessness, to ensure park rules are followed.
- Coordinate with park rangers, social services, or law enforcement when necessary to address safety or behavioral concerns in a non-confrontational manner.
- Provide information or assistance to park visitors as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriately.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in janitorial, groundskeeping, or public service roles is preferred.
- Experience using leaf blowers and other outdoor maintenance equipment is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Basic understanding of local resources for individuals experiencing homelessness is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work environment with exposure to weather, dust, and cleaning chemicals.
- Physical demands include walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and standing for extended periods.
