General Description

As a Host at Andina, you will report directly to the Front of House Manager. This is a part-time, non-exempt, onsite position. As a member of the Andina host team, you will be responsible for providing weing, warm, and attentive hospitality, and for collaborating with the service team to create an exceptional dining experience for all of our guests. Your responsibilities will include helping to facilitate an efficient and smooth service by mapping the floor, managing reservations, tracking server sections, seating guests when they arrive, and thanking guests when they depart. You are responsible for contributing to and upholding a workplace that is weing, inclusive, and equitable for all team members.

Schedule

General availability on Friday and Saturday evenings is required. This position is part-time and can flex into more hours as needed based upon business volumes. Andina operates on a 7 day per week schedule, with Happy Hour and Dinner available each night. We will be launching our new brunch service in June.

Essential Duties

As a Host at Andina, you will be responsible for:

Setting the tone and being the face of the restaurant.

Warmly and graciously greeting all guests in Spanish and thanking guests as they leave.

Providing consistent and genuine hospitality to guests at all times.

Offering coat/bag check when necessary.

Ensuring an excellent first impression for guests by maintaining a clean andanized host stand and foyer. Specific duties include but are not limited to cleaning the glass doors and windows, cleaning the host stand, wiping down menu covers, and sweeping the foyer, stairs, and elevator.

Assisting guests with navigating their way around the restaurant.

Escorting guests to their assigned table.

Maintaining contact with service staff, providing chits to servers once their tables have been seated.

Engaging proactively with guests when we are running late in our table turns.

Communicating with support staff to set and reset tables in a timely fashion, including before service begins.

Answering phone calls before and during service and attending to guest needs in a timely fashion, and directing them to the appropriate party when applicable.

Adding to and assisting in the maintenance of guests notes in Tock. Notes may include information on number of visits to Andina, birthdays, dietary restrictions, food or drink allergies, dishes previously enjoyed, favorite wines.

Assisting with maintaining the reservation books to maximize possible covers while booking the restaurant appropriately.

Activelymunicating with FOH and BOH management; alerting managers of long waits, guest issues, high profile guests, etc.

Coordinating and maintaining a wait list when needed.

Organizing the host stand to ensure it is clean, ready, and stocked for a successful shift, including with chit paper, pens, menus, etc.

Carefully scanning all used menus and discarding any that are stained, soiled, torn, or folded.

Acting as an overall touchpoint for guests' questions during service, i.e. providing information about private dining info, events, etc. when asked.

Attending all scheduled meetings and trainings.

Completing daily opening and closing side work as assigned by management.

Maintaining restrooms for cleanliness and supplies.

Complying with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

1 year of experience working in a Front of House role at a fine dining orparable restaurant.

Previous hosting experience.

Experience using Tock, Resy, or equivalent reservation systems.

Valid permits, as required by and relevant to your position: Oregon Food Handlers permit, OLCC service permit.

Physical Requirements

Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment.

Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven and slick surfaces.

Ability to bear exposure to hot and cold environments with moderate to high noise level.
