TechServ is seeking a reliable, energetic, and customer-focused Food Services Staff member to join our cafeteria team. This individual will play a key role in preparing food, serving as a line cook, and operating the cash register. About the Role:
As a Food Services Staff member at the TechServ cafeteria, youll be part of a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where great food and great service go hand in hand. This role is hands-on and dynamic, combining food preparation, cooking on the line during meal service, and interacting with customers at the register. Youll be an essential part of the daily operationhelping ensure meals are prepared safely, served efficiently, and delivered with a positive attitude. Whether you're chopping vegetables in the morning or ringing up customers during the lunch rush, your focus on teamwork, quality, and a can-do spirit will help create a welcoming dining experience for everyone at TechServ.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Food Preparation
- Assist with the preparation of ingredients including washing, chopping, and portioning.
- Follow standardized recipes and food safety guidelines.
- Ensure food is fresh, properly stored, and prepared efficiently.
Line Cook Duties
- Cook and assemble meals to order during service periods.
- Operate kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and stovetops safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the cook line.
- Monitor food quality and presentation.
Cashiering & Customer Service
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently.
- Handle cash, credit, and digital payments.
- Greet customers warmly and assist with menu selections.
- Provide prompt, courteous service and resolve minor customer concerns.
Sanitation & Safety
- Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and dining areas throughout shifts.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Participate in closing and restocking procedures.
Required Qualifications:

- Basic kitchen skills including chopping, slicing and dicing
- Ability to grill, sauté, bake, boil and fry using commercial kitchen equipment
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes or prep instructions accurately
- Measuring ingredients and portions using standard measurement tools
- Ability to respond quickly to instructions and changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in food service, line cooking, or cashiering preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and stooping.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate kitchen tools, cooking equipment, and POS systems.
- Ability to work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Visual acuity to read tickets, labels, and instructions.
- Ability to safely handle sharp tools and hot surfaces.
- May be required to wear a uniform, including slip-resistant shoes.
