The Opportunity:
Under general supervision of Dining Services Assistant Manager/Pastry Chef, responsible for the preparation of bakery products, including assigned weekend shifts and catering events. Work with management and storeroom personnel to develop proper par stock ordering levels to ensure sufficient quantities of product on hand while minimizing waste from over purchasing. Responsible for proper handling and storage of all food products. Must demonstrate judgment, integrity and commitment to quality in all items prepared. Responsible for the safe and appropriate use and care of equipment, clean up, and securing of work area at shifts end. Train and direct Food Service Worker Leads, student managers, and student employees in all production areas and serving areas as needed. Maintain records as required and direct production area. Provide quality customer service to our guests.

This is a full-time ( 100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $3,317 $4,410 | Range #38 (Steps A-M) | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
- Two years of experience as a Baker or Food Service Aide with training in baking; completion of a course in baking in the military services or a vocational school may be substituted for one year of experience; OR equivalent education/experience; AND possession of a food handler's permit.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Food Handler's Permit within 14 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two to five years experience in increasingly responsible 'baker' positions.
- Multi-faceted baking experience.
- Experience in preparation of bakery items with an emphasis in hotel/restaurant style desserts.
- Experience leading and training employees.
- General knowledge of commercial grade baking equipment use, safety, and maintenance.
