Job Duties
The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind is seeking a Housekeeping Worker to provide cleaning
support to a residential school for students with disabilities. This is a full-time position with full state
benefits. The work schedule is 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday; however, the candidate may be
asked to work an alternate schedule based on the needs of the school, including altered summer hours
and for special events or projects.

Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and sanitation
- Maintenance of supplies and equipment in facilities
- Floor care
- Trash removal and sanitation
- Identifying and reporting work area deficiencies and taking appropriate corrective action
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge and experience in performing residential space cleaning
Ability to give and receive instruction in verbal and in written form
Proficiency level of "Novice" in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Language
Proficiency Scale or agreement to acquire the specified level within three years
Current CPR/First Aid certification or must obtain following school policy
Ability to understand safety, sanitation and cleanliness needs
Willingness to work alternate schedules
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of the operation of manual and power cleaning equipment preferred
Working knowledge of classroom and office space cleaning tasks preferred
Working knowledge of commercial (non-industrial) cleaning tasks preferred
