Job Title: Custodian -4 hours per day

Location: Angoon School

Position Opening: As soon as possible

Length of position: contractual through the school and summer months.

Hourly Rate of Pay: Depends on experience and based on Classified pay-scale, first year starts $15.18 per hour

Duties:

This job consists of routine work to maintain the cleanliness of an assigned facility and grounds. An employee in this class, under the supervision of the site administrator, receives general direction and leadership. This employee performs cleaning and maintenance functions as prescribed by the site administrator. Work is evaluated through observation while work is in progress and by inspection of completed assignments. Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment. General building general upkeep: clean bathrooms, dust, wash windows, clean floors, counter tops, door handles, scrub walls, clean furniture, fill dispensers, move furniture, wash whiteboards and clean trays, replace light bulbs, clean drinking fountains, clean trash cans, gather and remove trash, check and clean equipment, open and secure building when arriving and leaving.

Ability to:

Communicate effectively in writing and orally

Read chemical labels

Read material safety data sheets

Initiate and complete work

Work outdoors under adverse weather conditions

Climb ladder and stairs

Pick up and carry 65 pounds

Operate cleaning machines

Stand for a prolonged period of time

Willingly attend and participate in training sessions

Learn and practice acceptable cleaning methods

Willingly acquire skills in the operation of cleaning machines used in the assigned facility to be a self-starter

Interact positively with students, administrators, co-workers, parents, and community

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Have a high school diploma

Be on time each day, failure to be on time each day is cause for dismissal

Ability to pass a background check

Employee Safety:

This employee is responsible for the use of safety devices and protective equipment in order to minimize the frequency and severity of work-related accident's. The employee is responsible for using safe practices and methods in the operation and supplies related to their job.

The employee is further responsible for correcting any conditions within the building or grounds that may be hazardous to employees, students, or staff assigned to the building and reporting same to the appropriate administrator.
