Machine Shop Parts Cleaner

Parts Cleaner Job Description The Parts Cleaner is responsible for general labor duties such as cleaning and removing burrs and chips from machined parts, and transferring parts at production lines. Responsibilities Review route and process sheets for instructions. Inspect parts for visual defects. Remove excess burrs, chips, and casing sand from machined parts. Load and unload parts in parts washer. Apply rust inhibitor on all cast iron and steel parts. Conduct final part count, check paperwork for errors, and ensure tags are properly filled out. Package parts in a suitable manner so they can be transported without damage. Conduct cleaning and routine maintenance while maintaining water level on a daily basis. Implement process improvements to eliminate waste and reduce costs. Essential Skills Experience in assembly, grinding, and production. Proficiency with hand and power tools. Ability to perform quality assurance and inspection of parts. Experience with painting and polishing. 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with visual inspection. 1+ years in warehouse material handling preferred. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word). Schedule is Monday to Friday , from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; OT as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
