Asa leader in quality early childhood programs in the area, WACOG is achampion of developmentally appropriate practices.**SUMMARY STATEMENT**\Under direct supervision, prepare and cook meals for enrolled Head Startchildren and staff in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards,local Public Health Services Environmental Health Division, and theChild and Adult Care Food Programs (CACFP) guidelines.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** Reasonable accommodations maybe made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialduties and responsibilities.- Assist with meal preparation of high quality, high quantity count of nutritional food portions in accordance with CACFP requirements and the number of children/staff to be service.- Follow standardized recipes and maintain proper controls to ensure minimal food spoilage and waste.- Help to ensure the accuracy of the number of meals, snacks, milk, and other food items prepared for assigned centers by monitoring daily meal count and classroom attendance reports.- Load meals in to carrier carts and transport vehicles for delivery to centers/classrooms and assist with transporting meals to centers without on-site kitchen production.- Maintain safety and sanitary conditions for the kitchens, all food preparation areas, transport vehicles, storage area, and food service area, as required by local environmental health departments and the Head Start and CACFP programs; maintain proper safety logs for temperature and quality controls.- Maintain safety of self and co-workers by following all safety procedures, including, but not limited to, oven mitts, cutting gloves, lifting belts, slip resistant shoes, sanitizer buckets, towels, mops, brooms, etc.- Assist Cook in following the meal service cycle menu developed by Parents, Food Service Manager, and Health/Nutrition Service Specialist, including meals for special dietary needs or special occasions, in compliance with CACFP guidelines; purchase specialty items locally as needed.- Responsible for helping the Cook to maintain accurate meal production records in accordance with CACFP Meals Pattern for Children.- Assist Cook in ordering, receiving, checking, and immediate storage of food or related supply orders as per Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines, Environmental health regulations, and CACFP requirements.- Travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel maybe required.- Maintain regular and punctual attendance; work outside of standard business hours as needed.- Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality; project a positive and professional image of WACOG at all times.- Other duties as assigned or required of the position.**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs)** The individual who holds thisposition must be able to perform the essential duties andresponsibilities satisfactorily. The KSAs listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed forsatisfactory performance.- Ability to read, interpret and communicate regulations, recipes and menus in English- Skill in producing accurate measurements and quantities by adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions and decimals- Knowledge in quality control and proper kitchen safety standards- Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions- Ability to work around children\**WORK ENVIRONMENT**\The work environments a e representative of those an employee encounterswhile performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.- Required to make frequent trips off-site by motor vehicle within the WACOG service area.- May work with the public in home, office, or center environments that may risk exposure to irrational/hostile behavior, contagious diseases, or contact with domestic animals.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**\The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by anemployee to successfully perform\the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.- Frequent sitting, standing, squatting, and walking.- Manual dexterity sufficient to handle/feel/reach with hands and arms to operate standard kitchen equipment.- Vision ability to include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.- Hearing ability to respond to emergency or operational needs.- May require lifting or moving objects up to 50 lbs.
