Scope of Position
The Food Runner at Calypsos Pool Bar & Grille is primary responsible for delivering prompt, courteous, and efficient food and beverage service in a hotel environment, with a strong emphasis on attention to detail. The role involves close collaboration with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and enjoyable dining experience for all guests.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a food runner, server, or in a hospitality role is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely food delivery.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge (Micros or other POS systems).
- A food handling certification must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.
- A TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) certificate must be completed within the first 90 days of employment.
- Must be of minimum legal age to serve alcohol according to state law.
Responsibilities
- Greet (using names) and acknowledge each guest promptly after seating with hotel greeting standards.
- Interact with guests in a friendly and upbeat manner, providing exceptional customer service and addressing any inquiries they may have about the menu.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff, servers, and bartenders to ensure seamless and coordinated dining experience for our guests.
- Know the ingredients, preparation, and proper presentation of all menu items and specials.
- Knowledge of restaurant layout and location of all equipment and supplies.
- Ensure table settings are fully equipped with the appropriate condiments.
- Ensure special requests and dietary restrictions are accommodated.
- Handle any additional requests from guests promptly.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards and maintain a clean and organized workspace with an understanding of proper food handling.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
- High school diploma or GED
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
- Ability to perform proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques, and use of equipment/machinery.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
