The Line Cook supports meal preparation for buffet service, a la carte orders, and grab-and-go items at The Ordinary Cafe. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a spirit of hospitality.
Essential duties:
- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes, quality standards, and portion guidelines.
- Support both buffet and a la carte service throughout breakfast, lunch, and dinner as scheduled.
- Execute prep work for daily service, including chopping, portioning, and storing ingredients.
- Rotate between hot and cold food stations as needed.
- Assist with catering functions, special events, and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen preferred (but we will train the right candidate)
- Understanding of basic kitchen equipment and food safety protocols
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and contribute to a team environment
- Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
- Reliable, punctual, and respectful to all team members
- Flexible schedule; must be available for some evening and weekend shifts for catered and special events
Candidates must have:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds
- SERV Safe Certification (or ability to obtain one upon hire)
