Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting an Assistant Director of Housekeeping to join the hotel's opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. The property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Housekeeping is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the entire housekeeping area, to include public areas and night cleaning. This role requires a solid understanding of housekeeping operation, laundry, par levels, inventory, ordering and will assure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed. This position will also require staff training, development, scheduling and payroll. The Assistant Director of Housekeeping will promote an atmosphere that promotes guest and colleague engagement and satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Director of Housekeeping and requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with other departments and team members.

Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

  • Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times and anticipate and exceed guest expectations.
  • Communicate efficiently with Room Attendants and House Attendants as regards guest requests or guest room needs via Hotsos, radio and phone.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to internal and external guest complaints and needs.
  • Assists the Director of Housekeeping with the organizing, instructing, training and record keeping of all Housekeeping training and safety awareness programs.
  • Completes/Monitors payroll, time edits and gratuities. Able to support with departmental scheduling based on operational needs and colleague requests.
  • Maintaining inventory (linen/terry/ guest room amenities and request items) and place orders to replenish items.
  • Trains, supervises, motivates and coaches supervisors and attendants, in addition to maintaining daily operations manual and expectations with consistency and fairness.
  • Audit the work of housekeeping staff and provide regular feedback and coaching in performance.
  • Display a positive attitude, maintain enthusiasm, and celebrate success within a lively department environment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • 2 years of progressive hotel Rooms Management experience.
  • Ability to speak a second Language fluently will be considered an asset
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve key score metrics.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule; weekends, holidays, overnight shifts
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Previous experience training new colleagues in a housekeeping department
  • Able to engage in- kneeling, lifting, squatting, bending, ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps. Stand and walk, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • A polished approach to guest service and colleague interactions
