Mental Health Association of Nassau County (MHANC) is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to improving mental health in our community through advocacy, education, program development, and the delivery of direct services. Our organization is looking for a motivated individual with a calling to help adults with mental illness by becoming a Receptionist.
Responsible for providing clerical support to the Gathering Place PROS Program.
- Answer telephones, greet visitors, accept and sign for deliveries as required.
- Prepare correspondence as required.
- Maintain agency files as required.
- Perform data entry responsibilities in databases as required.
- Perform copy / fax responsibilities as required.
- Assist with data collection for billing as required.
- File confidential material in client charts as required.
- Assist with PROS scheduling functions as required.
- Implement all facts of the functional program including program philosophy, goals, and objectives as well as adhere to agency policies and procedures.
- Participates in implementation of agencys Quality Improvement Program.
- Develop and maintain a good working rapport with all staff to assure services and activities are adequately maintained to meet the needs of the members.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Identify and assist in correcting problem areas, and/or the improvement of services.
- Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Follow the procedures for reporting unsafe conditions and hazardous conditions or equipment.
- Assists with coordinating transportation (MAS) and MetroCard distribution for PROS participants.
- Must be able to handle simultaneous challenging situations in an often-high stress environment.
- Must have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with members, personnel and support agencies.
- Able to think objectively in various situations.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- Accepts and follows through on other duties as assigned.
- Participate in continuing educational programs designed to assure knowledge of changes in profession and/or the mental health field.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required. BA / BS preferred.
- Prior experience as an Administrative Assistant preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of MS Word, Internet.
- Good written and oral communication skills, strong leadership skills and the ability to multi-task.
