Scope of this Position:

The Bell Person is responsible for ensuring the arrival and departure processes are seamless and is available to assist with guest needs during their stay in a professional, prompt and courteous manner.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of hotel operations, scheduled daily activities, and room product.
  • Maintain and execute 5-star Forbes and 5 Diamonds AAA standards.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.
  • Welcomes and escorts guests upon arrival, in the most welcoming demeanor possible, to and from their rooms.
  • Have a high standard of quality of service and courtesy, bringing total satisfaction to our guests and the hotel.
  • Acquires a working knowledge of the hotel, informing guests of all safety features and promoting hotel outlets, in-house facilities, and local information to respond to guest inquiries.
  • Be aware of VIP's room assignments, check-out, airport pick-up and drop-off, etc.
  • Provide proper delivery of morning newspapers.
  • Assisting with amenity, envelope, package, and equipment deliveries.
  • Ensure lobby procedures are followed (post positions, cleanliness, etc.).
  • Follow a workable check-room system for luggage that protects the hotel and guest from loss or damage.
  • Keeps baggage storage area clean.
  • Maintain a good working relationship between the staff and other departments.
  • Follow the requirements for, and the follow-up on, special groups or VIPs.
  • Have accurate and complete guest assistance information available regarding events taking place in town, restaurants, athletic events, etc.

Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • The ability to exercise the personal discipline and extra diligence to assure that projects are completed on timely basis.
  • The ability to motivate and inspire others to work cooperatively to achieve a designated goal.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent Hotel data.
  • Flexible schedule - willing and able to work shift duties that may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill necessary tasks.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.

Qualification Standards:

  • Education: High School Diploma required
  • Experience: 1-year previous experience in a similar position in a luxury hotel preferred.
  • Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided).
