Note: Work hours for these two positions will be from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work occasional shifts outside of the regular shift to meet department needs. Positions are eligible to receive shift differential pay for all applicable hours.
*Shift Differentials will be paid to employees in eligible classes as published in the State's annual pay plan.
- Regular rate applies when work hours fall between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (no shift differential).
- Second shift differential rate (7.5%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
- Third shift differential rate (14%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
- Weekend differential rate (20%) applies when more than half of the scheduled shift hours fall on a weekend shift. Weekend shifts start at 4:00 pm Friday through 6:00 am Monday.

The full-time, shift position is located in Custodial Services at Arapahoe Community College and will provide a safe and clean environment for students, staff and the public. Primary duties and responsibilities include: clean and maintain campus facilities such as classrooms, closets, restrooms, offices, door hardware, and all public areas. Vacuum carpets and floor matting; dust mop and wet mop hard surface floors; dust, clean, disinfect, polish and detail furniture desk tops, sinks, urinals, partitions, drains, flush valves, counter tops, light fixtures, glass, mirrors, dispensers, hand dryers, kick plates, and stainless steel, etc. Use specified chemicals or cleaning methods for different types of spills or needed clean-up. Empty pencil sharpeners, collect and remove trash and replace liners. Replenish paper towels, toilet paper and hand soap. Clean whiteboards and trays; stock markers and erasers as needed. Straighten and return furniture to proper position. Clean and change bags on vacuums and change wet and dry mop heads. Keep custodial closet and housekeeping cart in orderly condition; ensure security of assigned areas. Clean and maintain interior and exterior windows, blinds, window ledges, picture frames, door frames, etc. Buff and/or strip hard surface flooring, shampoo carpets and spot clean upholstery. Operate, clean and maintain custodial equipment to include buffers, high speed, walk behind floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, upholstery cleaners and floor machines. Straighten and return furniture to proper position after deep cleaning areas. Assist with snow removal and sweeping entry ways. Report maintenance problems to the supervisor as they occur. Perform all other housekeeping duties as assigned. Utilize computer to check daily work orders, complete timesheets, leave requests, etc.

Experience Only:Six (6) months of custodial experience. Explain use and care of custodial equipment used in detail on your application. Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor. Ability to work as a member of a team as well as an individual contributor; self motivated. Applicant must be willing to work different shifts (day/night/weekend) if necessary to meet the needs of the department. Do not use "SEE RESUME" statements on application; your application must be completed in detail and clearly document your relevant work experience. (Part time experience will be pro-rated). Necessary Special Requirements: Must possess a current, valid Colorado driver's license in order to drive campus vehicles. Must submit to and successfully complete a
pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a
condition of hire.
Must be willing to work before or after normal business hours if requested and overtime as needed. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Knowledge of custodian chemicals and their use. Proper sanitation procedures for restrooms. Experience in hard floor and carpet maintenance. Experience operating floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, and floor buffers. Strong customer service skills. Effective communication skills (oral and written). Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks. Prior experience utilizing MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
