The Role
A Lead Bartender will exceed the expectations of all customers in a multitude of tasks that include but are not limited to maintaining superior quality standards regarding food and drink production, preparation, sanitation, safety, and expediency of lines.
The person holding this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. The person in this position is expected to greet all customers and guests in proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. A Lead Bartender must develop and maintain the company's culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.
Responsibilities will include:
Train servers and bartenders on service standards, sanitation practices, and safety procedures.
Resolve guest complaints related to bar or restaurant operations in a timely and professional manner.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and functionality of the Point of Sale (POS) system.
Perform server, bartender, and cashier duties as needed; provide support to team members during service.
Responsible for opening and closing procedures when scheduled or required.
Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) when the Assistant F&B Manager or General Manager is not on-site.
Adhere to all operational standards, policies, procedures, training materials, and verbal instructions.
Ensure accurate receipt and proper storage of all product deliveries.
Assist with month-end inventory counts and ensure timely reporting by the last calendar day of each month.
Support the planning, organization, and execution of bar and cocktail lounge operations.
Contribute to bar menu development in collaboration with management and culinary staff.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including preparation techniques and service standards.
Assist with cultural events and property programming as needed.
Order or requisition liquor, mixers, garnishes, and other bar supplies.
Maintain open and effective communication with staff, other departments, and upper management via email, logbooks, and meetings.
Uphold high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the work area.
Ensure all equipment is kept in proper working order; report any maintenance issues to management promptly.
Stay alert to safety concerns and notify management of potential hazards.
Handle disruptive guests professionally, including asking those who are loud or unruly to leave when necessary.
Stay current on emergency procedures, safety protocols, and OSHA regulations.
Attend scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and other required events.
Experience Required
Four (4) years of related experience in bars or the service industry
This position requires a flexible schedule as it is needed to work on weekends, holidays, and late-night shifts to meet the demands of the operation and ensure proper shift coverage.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
Ability to create documents in Excel and Word
Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e., Point of Sale)
Ability to apply concepts of math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
