The purpose of this position is to repair and maintain water and wastewater systems. This is accomplished by preparing sites for work; maintaining and repairing water and sewer lines and mains; completing work orders, repairing lines and equipment, answering questions from customers; and informing the public regarding closures. Other duties include maintaining vehicles and tools; inspecting sites; and assisting with water cutoffs and reconnects.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares sites for work by placing hydraulic shoring jacks at excavation sites; excavating and back filling areas; and digging holes to expose water and sewer lines for repairs.
- Restores appearance of construction or excavation sites by removing excess dirt from site; and replacing grass, sod, trees, or shrubs.
- Ensures continuous operation of water and sewer pipes by fitting pipe; repairing sewer laterals and mains; repairing manhole covers; connecting water and sewer lines to citizen property lines; and pumping water out of excavation sites.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Class D Water License is required within one (1) year of employment.

Vacation
Non-civil service employees accrue 6.67 hours per month (2 weeks per year).
All police employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).
All Fire employees accrue 15 hours per month (7.5 - 24 hour shifts a year).
Sick Leave
Non-civil service employees accrue 10 hours per month (3 weeks per year).

Holidays
Non-civil service employees receive 13 paid holidays per year including one personal or "floating" day.
Longevity Pay
Earned at a rate of $4 per month.
This is calculated on number of years of service up to and including 25 years (maximum $1200).

Worker's compensation coverage is provided for all employees.

Eligible for Education/Certification pay.
