Part Time Food Service Assistant

This position is a part-time 25 hours per week position Monday Friday. The primary focus of the Food Service assistant is to perform various duties assisting in the cafeteria preparing daily menu items, washing dishes, operating cash register, cleaning tables, etc., following established practices and procedures.

Work from established work schedule, written or verbal orders or instructions. Ability to lift and move food products from boxes to storage areas. Ability to remain standing for long periods and work at a fast pace when required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. Under direction of Food Service Manager, assist in the preparation of food items such as: cleaning and peeling vegetables and assembling salads. Set out food prepared by chef and assist in dispensing to customers. Provide creative ideas for new menu offerings.

2. Operate cash register to receive payments, make change and receive vouchers. Collect soiled dishes, pots, pans and utensils. Wash and store in designated locations. Clean and arrange tables and chairs in the cafeteria and in the shop break area. Wash counters, microwave, work areas, etc. Fill napkin, condiment, utensil holders.

3. Receive and store food products and other items in designated locations. As requested, go to grocery store for food or other supplies.

4. Detect and report defective or unsafe equipment, other unusual situations to the supervisor. Observe and obey all safety rules, regulations and practices. Employ all required safety equipment and devices.

5. Slice, prep, bake, gather items for food orders to be delivered to break room in manufacturing building.

6. Assist in preparation in executing special events, cooking, baking, serving and clean up.

7. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Minimum of 1-3 years of experience.
