Responsible for performing routine cleaning tasks. Work is performed under the supervision of an administrator of the shelter. Work involves some physical exertion in mopping and sweeping. Responsible for keeping designated areas of facility clean. Work requires minimum independent judgment and is reviewed for rate of performance and through results obtained. Successful applicant will be expected to complete required domestic violence related trainings.

Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm; some flexibility in work hours at discretion of Shelter Division Manager

The starting salary range will be between $15.18-$21.25 per hour depending on the candidate's qualifications as well as budgetary considerations. Follow the daily/weekly/monthly chore list and complete in a timely manner.

Manage cleaning concerns that are apparent.

Monitor inventory items that are used and inform supervisor in timely manner.

Clean and maintains offices, hallways, restrooms, work areas and public reception area floors by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing and buffing, using powder and hand equipment.

Empties trash cans in offices and public areas and disposes of trash by taking it to a central trash collection area.

Cleans windows, blinds, mirror and bathrooms

Must be able to walk up & down stairs

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds

Cleans and disinfects fixtures, counters, walls and furniture in clinic areas.

Refills paper products and supplies in restrooms and monitors inventory of supplies for reordering.

Maintain appropriate and professional boundaries with residents.

Maintain client and shelter confidentiality

Performs others duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED. Three months experience in building cleaning and maintenance is preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT : A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above. The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. After initial interviews with the selected candidates are conducted, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire. The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.
