Position Overview:
The Bellperson/Valet provides exceptional guest service by assisting with luggage, greeting guests upon arrival, and delivering a range of services designed to enhance the guest experience. This role plays a key part in ensuring that guests feel welcomed, valued, and well-supported during their stay. Carefully parking guest cars in a safe manner in the hotel garage. The ideal candidate will anticipate guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; inform guests about hotel facility locations and hours of operations; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet guests upon arrival with a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
- Assist guests with luggage, guiding them to their rooms and providing any needed assistance.
- Deliver and retrieve guest items (such as luggage, packages, or amenities) promptly and efficiently.
- Provide guests with information about hotel facilities, amenities, local attractions, and services.
- Escort guests to their rooms, explaining room features and hotel amenities.
- Assist with parking and retrieving guest vehicles as required (if valet services are offered).
- Handle guest requests for additional services, such as arranging transportation or providing recommendations for local dining and activities.
- Maintain a neat and organized bell desk, ensuring that all necessary equipment (e.g., luggage carts, keys) is readily available.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate issues to management if necessary.
- Assist with loading and unloading luggage at the hotel entrance or transportation area.
- Ensure that guests' personal belongings are treated with care and security.
- Assist with special guest needs, such as arranging for wake-up calls or coordinating room service requests.
- Provide support to the concierge team as needed, assisting with reservations or guest inquiries.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Qualification Standards:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous experience in hospitality or customer service (preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Friendly, helpful, and professional attitude.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy luggage (up to a certain weight limit).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
- Basic knowledge of the local area, amenities, and attractions (preferred).
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive manual transmission.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry luggage (often weighing between 20-50 pounds, depending on guest needs).
- Ability to walk, stand, and bend for extended periods.
- Must be able to navigate stairs or ramps in the hotel.
Work Environment:
- Work takes place outdoors, in the hotel lobby, guest rooms, or transportation areas.
- Often requires working in high-traffic areas and interacting with a wide range of guests.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules (including Holidays and weekends) to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Wage Rate: $20.21 per hour
