PURPOSE OF POSITION : The Assistant Pastry Chef is responsible for the production of baked goods and pastries for all banquets. The y have full responsibility for bakery operations during the p astry c hef's absence , including supervision of other b akers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicate frequently with the p astry c hef about menu planning, scheduling , and any potential or current problems in the b akery and k itchen
Produce high quality baked goods and pastries consistently
Follow standard recipes and designated procedures in the b akery
Be able to read and execute orders, ensuring that the food is prepared as specified in banquet sheets
Manage inventory of baked goods and ingredients, plan the menu, and ensure proper food storage and rotation to minimize waste
Properly use kitchen equipment, knives , and other tools
Maintain a clean workspace
Follow proper food handling practices to prevent food-borne illnesses and allergies, and ensure leftover products are wrapped, labeled, and stored properly
Creatively use leftover ingredients/products to minimize waste
Mail wholesale and special-order bills daily
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS :
S trong baking expertise and leadership skills
Excellent customer service skills
