PURPOSE OF POSITION : The Assistant Pastry Chef is responsible for the production of baked goods and pastries for all banquets. The y have full responsibility for bakery operations during the p astry c hef's absence , including supervision of other b akers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate frequently with the p astry c hef about menu planning, scheduling , and any potential or current problems in the b akery and k itchen

  • Produce high quality baked goods and pastries consistently

  • Follow standard recipes and designated procedures in the b akery

  • Be able to read and execute orders, ensuring that the food is prepared as specified in banquet sheets

  • Manage inventory of baked goods and ingredients, plan the menu, and ensure proper food storage and rotation to minimize waste

  • Properly use kitchen equipment, knives , and other tools

  • Maintain a clean workspace

  • Follow proper food handling practices to prevent food-borne illnesses and allergies, and ensure leftover products are wrapped, labeled, and stored properly

  • Creatively use leftover ingredients/products to minimize waste

  • Mail wholesale and special-order bills daily

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • S trong baking expertise and leadership skills

  • Excellent customer service skills

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT:

PAY RATE:

  • Pay: $26.00 per hour
