SUMMARYThe Banquet Cook sets the tone for Sonestas mission by consistently going above and beyond for our guests and coworkers. The primary responsibility of this role is to prepare and produce food for events in accordance with quality standards. The Banquet Cook must maintain a safe work environment and adhere to established sanitation and safety guidelines.
The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.
Job Description
DUTIES
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
The majority of work takes place indoors.
Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures, such as those found in freezers and loading docks.
Physical Demands
Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching are required .
Ability to stand for the entire shift is necessary.
Expected Hours of Work
Must be flexible to work on variable days of the week, including weekends and holidays.
Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights ).
Ten to twelve-hour shifts may sometimes be required .
Education and Experience
Relevant experience in restaurant or hotel food preparation is preferred.
A minimum of three years cooking experience is required.
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred.
Principal duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:
Producing all food orders in a timely and consistent manner in accordance with established quality standards. Testing food to ensure the quality and consistency of all meals served .
Operating all kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.
Reading and understanding banquet event orders (BEOs).
Following the detailed banquet prep list as written by the Chef.
Handling and storing food items safely while keeping the work area clean and sanitized, including all opening and closing duties.
Adhering to established safety and sanitation guidelines.
Following uniform and grooming standards.
Performing other duties or projects as requested by management.
Qualifications and Skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
Prioritization and time management skills are required .
Must be able to read recipes and follow their instructions.
Employing math skills to accurately prepare items according to recipes is necessary.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain a high level of performance is important.
Attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
Track record of delivering exceptional guest or client experience.
Ability to communicate, both verbally and written, effectively with guests, vendors and co-workers.
