Job DetailsSmr Bakery (@smorbakery.nyc), located in the East Village opened its doors in late summer 2022. Being a Nordic-inspired bakery - expect to find lots of cardamom buns, various viennoiserie products, naturally fermented breads, and much more. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Baker to join our team. Job Description: As a Baker, you will work closely with our experienced bakers to ensure the efficient operation of our bakery. You will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and production of various baked goods. This is a hands-on role that requires creativity, precision, and a strong work ethic.
This position may involve some early morning shifts (3:00am starts). At least 1 weekend day is a requirement!
Compensation is based on experience and skills, as well as performance during training.
Responsibilities :
- Assist in the preparation and production of a wide range of bakery products, including bread, viennoiserie, cakes, cookies, and other specialty items.
- Follow established recipes and production schedules to ensure consistent quality and taste.
- Measure and weigh ingredients accurately, and mix, shape, and mold dough as required.
- Operate and maintain bakery equipment, including mixers, ovens, dough sheeters, and proofing cabinets, ensuring their cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Monitor baking process and adjust temperatures, baking times, and ingredients as needed to achieve optimal results.
- Decorate and finish baked goods with precision and attention to detail, following specific guidelines.
- Assist in inventory management, including receiving, stocking, and rotating ingredients and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to DOH and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the bakery team to develop new recipes and creative baked goods for seasonal promotions or special events.
Qualifications :
- Good attitude!
- Previous experience working in a bakery environment for at least 1-2 years. 6 months - 1 year experience working with lamination and laminated doughs.
- A passion for baking and a strong interest in learning new techniques and recipes.
- Basic knowledge of baking principles, including dough preparation, baking times, and ingredient functions. Especially bread, lamination, mixing of various types of doughs.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes accurately.
- Ability to lift loads up to 50lbs.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality products.
- Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods, and work in a hot environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
