We are seeking a full-time or part-time seasonal Host for the breakfast shift, 6am - 2pm
Wage: $16.00/hr, plus tips
Primary Purpose of Position
The restaurant Host/Hostess is the first employee to interact with arriving guests as they enter the restaurant. Host accurately maintains the reservation book, quickly and courteously greets all guests at the door, and professionally seats guests while keeping in mind station rotation and progress of servers. They provide courteous and efficient service to all guests and promote teamwork among co-workers. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the hostess, making their job critical in the overall satisfaction of our guests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Warmly and graciously greets all guests upon arrival.
- When possible, open the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
- Manage the reservation book and wait list
- Call out name and number of party when tables become available.
- Provide guests with estimated waiting time, always maintaining a professional, courteous attitude when confronted with hostile, impatient or irate guests.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Seat guests based on guest preferences and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their servers name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
- Relay messages to servers and support staff as needed.
- Clean menus of food and stains.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager on duty.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Complete all opening and closing side-work assigned
- Watch dining room to insure that it is clean and orderly at all times
- Adhere to Leading Hotel of the World (LHW) standards at all times
- Participate in related F&B training/seminar program such as LHW classes and wine training as needed
Education/Experience
- Minimum 14 years of age
- At least one year of hosting experience in a high volume, upscale restaurant preferred
- Prior experience with Open Table preferred

- Excellent verbal and telephone skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with our guests.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Fluency in other languages a plus.
- Be flexible and willing to assist as needed to ensure all restaurant standards are met
Essential Physical Requirements
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
- Position primarily performed indoors assisting a variety of guests.
- Working conditions will vary with season; high traffic during peak season, medium traffic during off season.
- Should be prepared to work long hours and able to stand for an extended time.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
