Multiple positions availableTemporary position, not to exceeed 65 daysJune 16 - August 29 up to 40 hrs/week (flexible schedule)Salary range: $17.62/hr - $21.17/hr

General Purpose: Works with the building custodian during summer months to prepare for the upcoming school year performing non-summer school related duties

Reports To: Building Principal / Maintenance Supervisor

Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsValid Oregon Driver's LicenseMust pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening

Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructionsAbility to make minor repairsAbility to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiency and safetyKnowledge of cleansing methods and the use, care and safety of cleaning materials and equipmentKnowledge of requirements for maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly conditionKnowledge of the operation of a heating plant and equipmentFamiliar with handling and disposal of hazardous materialsPerform physical requirements which may include: Requires moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.Ability to lift and move heavy objectsRequires ability to operate buffers, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, and other equipmentRequires ability to climb ladders, stretch and bend to perform cleaning, repairs, painting, cleaning roof gutters, and drainsAbility to walk to various locations within the school building and the groundsAbility to work primarily in a standing position

Possible exposure to bodily fluids in cleaning due to student injury or illnessAbility to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for students

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):Clean areas of the school as assigned (i.e., classrooms, halls, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, kitchen, gymnasium, etc.) vacuum, mop, buff floors, wash windows, clean chalk/ white boards, dust, paint, replace light bulbs, make minor repairs, etc.Sweep walks and entrances, and pick up debris on the grounds, clean drains, gutters, and roofsSet up, take down, and move furniture, shelving and partitions as assignedDuring the day shift, perform routine groundskeeping duties such as grass cutting, tree and shrub trimming to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive conditionClean and polish any metal works such as hand railingsBe responsible for locking doors and windows, turning out lights and securing building as assignedCheck daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bars are working properly during the hours of building occupancyAct as a friendly ambassador for the North Bend School DistrictPerform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Administration.
