Transportation Engineer IV Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and maintenance. Essential Duties: Transportation Engineer IV and V Advises on routine through complex contract questions in daily support of District / Division / Region contract users. Analyzes and assists in the resolution of contract problems and disputes. Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals. May serve as a lead worker by serving as a resource for complex questions; presenting workflow and operational updates to the supervisor/manager; providing input on team members' career conversations; and approving leave requests to ensure operations coverage. Assists in the development, preparation and letting of maintenance contracts for the district. Performs pavement designs and makes recommendations. Responsible for a pavement management program. Reviews change orders, supplemental agreements, memorandum agreements and extra work orders, reviews monthly and final estimates prior to submittal. Reviews, coordinates, monitors and approves routine and emergency maintenance contracts; performs/oversees maintenance specifications writing/review, plans and proposal review, and preparation of estimates for letting. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
