Streets Maintenance Worker Level I - 4 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Clinton, UT 84015 Job Summary: This is an entry-level or lateral hire opportunity, designed to welcome both individuals who are new to public works and those with prior experience in a similar role. The Streets Maintenance Worker is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Clinton City's streets, sidewalks, and related infrastructure. This position requires significant experience with physical labor and the ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment to ensure the safety and usability of city streets. The Streets Maintenance Worker plays a crucial role in the upkeep of public spaces, contributing to the overall well-being of the community. Salary: $19.84 - 26.01 based on experience Key Responsibilities: Street Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on city streets, including pothole repair, crack sealing, and resurfacing. Snow and Ice Removal: Operate snowplows, salt spreaders, and other equipment to ensure streets and sidewalks are safe during winter weather conditions. Sidewalk and Curb Repair: Repair and replace damaged sidewalks, curbs, and gutters to ensure public safety. Traffic Control: Set up and maintain traffic control devices, such as cones, barricades, and signs, during construction and maintenance activities. Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of heavy equipment, including backhoes, loaders, and dump trucks, for various street maintenance tasks. Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of streets and related infrastructure to identify and report needed repairs or maintenance. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment maintenance. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Streets Maintenance Supervisor or the Public Works Director. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Prior experience in physically demanding work is required. Experience with road maintenance taskssuch as patching roads, filling potholes, and repairing asphaltis preferred. Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Certification in traffic control (e.g., flagger certification) is preferred. Road Scholar Certifications are preferred. Skills: Ability to operate heavy machinery and power tools. Strong knowledge of road maintenance techniques and materials. Basic understanding of construction practices and principles. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds). Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods. Work Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors in various and sometimes extreme weather conditions. The Streets Maintenance Worker may be required to work overtime, nights, and weekends, especially during emergency situations such as snowstorms. Position required to be in an "on call" rotation Although some time will be spent operating heavy equipment, this is not just a driving position; it also requires physically demanding labor and outdoor work
