A local Zeeland company who is the nation's largest private clock manufacture has Machine Operator openings seeking set up experience. This manufacture makes an array of grandfather, wall, and mantel clocks, curio, cabinets, wine, and spirit furnishing, rugs, and home furniture as well as memorial urns. **General Summary / Basic Function:** Under general supervision performs final finish sanding on completed clock cabinets before they enter the Finishing Department. Depending on assigned department, performs some or all of the following duties.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**1. Utilizes chisel and/or knife to remove excess glue, wood chips, and shavings.2. Mixes putty to correct color and consistency (based on species of wood); applies putty to cracks, worm holes, nail holes, and other flaws. Sands these areas smooth and examines to confirm that repair is indistinguishable.3. Utilizing automated hand-held sander, sands the surfaces of subassemblies to remove scratches, machining marks, glue, and 'feathers' as well as to smooth corners and edges. Sands flat surfaces, inside and outside corners, profiles, carvings and all other surfaces to achieve an overall smooth appearance. May hand-sand small, hard to reach, and detailed areas with sandpaper or steel wool. Utilizes appropriate grit paper depending on the surface.4. Final Case Cleaner sands completed cases paying particular attention to the areas affected by final assembly of subcomponents. Fills nail holes and cracks with putty and sands smooth. Closely examines entire case and sands any remaining scratches, flaws, rough spots or other problems.5. Maintains an orderly and efficient work space. Ensures that vacuum table (depending on department assignment) is drawing effectively by keeping surface sufficiently clear and cleaning filter.6. Maintains an accurate count of work completed. **$18/hr**
