Housekeeper - Linen Rooms

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Housekeeper - Linen Rooms position. This position is responsible for linen delivery and soiled linen pickup, as well as housekeeping duties. The primary purpose of this position is to assure all clean linens are distributed to all end users for patient use. The Housekeeper-Linen Rooms is responsible for assuring that all par levels are met daily by a particular time, that linen inventory levels are accounted for daily, and laundry carts are transported to each linen room in all Patient Care Units (PCU's) of the hospital, for soiled laundry pickup and to meet infection control requirements.

In addition, this position is to perform housekeeping duties in an assigned area of the hospital. The Housekeeper-Linen Rooms follows a work schedule covering all phases of housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Cleaning of areas includes, but is not limited to: Ceilings, lights, vents, and walls; polishing furniture, dust mopping/vacuuming, wet mopping hard surface floors, buffing/polishing floors, and shampooing carpets; wash windows, screens, and blinds; cleans/changes soiled/worn curtains, pillows, and mattress covers. Replenishes restrooms with towels, toilet paper, and soap. Cleans lavatories, commodes, urinals, mirrors, showers, and tubs. Empties trash and recyclables and takes waste to designated dumpsters.

Operates various heavy cleaning equipment. Performs medium to heavy physical work and follows written and verbal instructions. Pushes heavy and bulky linen carts while maneuvering throughout corridors. Position requires lifting, stooping, bending, moving from side to side, and standing for extended periods. Must work independently and as a team member, and be pleasant, courteous, and thoughtful around patients, staff, and visitors.

Normal work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Flexibility with work schedule is required to meet hospital needs.

This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Salary Grade: NC01

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:

  • Experience housekeeping on a large scale in a commercial, industrial, or hospital setting.
  • Experience delivering linens and/or laundry on a large scale in a commercial, industrial, or hospital setting.

Management prefers:

  • Experience working in a psychiatric hospital setting.
