Era Living is seeking a full-time Sous Chef to become the newest member of our Culinary Services team located in our University House Issaquah Community, Issaquah, WA. Available shifts will be scheduled Sunday - Thursday.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Sous Chef is a lead position in the kitchen, including ensuring food service delivery standards are met and maintained, completing food/supplies inventory and ordering, and providing support for the culinary team in the absence of Culinary Services Director. This role works as an individual contributor and collaboratively with kitchen staff preparing and presenting food and meals in accordance with planned menus, recipes and established portion control procedures, and established cleanliness standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possess culinary knowledge and ability to perform food service functions in the kitchen (record daily temperature logs; to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures and evaluate low supplies and notifies Culinary Services Director/Food Services Director of needs

Ability to detect potentially hazardous/dangerous situations and take steps to correct them

Proven ability to follow recipe preparation instructions and specific culinary procedures

Ability to understand proper food storage procedures and adhere to strict established cleanliness standards and inform the Culinary Services Director/Food Services Director of any problems that occur

Ability to adhere to specific dietary needs

Independently able to perform food preparation tasks

Ability to perform duties in compliance with established Universal Precautions, fire safety, infection control and sanitation procedures, and Era Living policies and procedures

Ability to read, write and communicate in English

Ability to pass DSHS and State background check, required

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED, required.

Three plus years cooking experience in a high volume food service establishment, required.

Experience training kitchen staff in culinary techniques or other kitchen duties, required.

Food Handler's Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire.

First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days of hire.

ServSafe Certification or able to obtain as determined by Community needs.
