Cook/Food Service (Yukon Flats Project)

The Yukon Flats Project is recruiting for its seasonal exploration program in Birch Creek, Alaska, running between June and October.

The cook and food service staff prepare, produce, and portion a variety of hot and cold foods in a remote environment, complete the sanitation of the work area, and stock necessary food and supplies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare a variety of hot and cold foods by following various recipes and ensuring food safety.

• Ensure food is varied to meet recommended nutritional guidelines and needs of camp residents.

• Address camp resident needs and concerns – work to accommodate allergies or acquire requested items.

• Clean and sanitize work areas, tables, dishes, utensils, etc. to ensure a hygienic environment.

• Monitor stock levels, restock supplies, and ensure adequate inventory for service.

• Adhere to Food Safety Standards to prevent foodborne illnesses.

• Collect garbage in assigned work areas and dispose of it as directed by the Supervisor to maintain a sanitary space and not attract animals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Alaska Safe Food Worker Card contingent upon 30 days of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1+ years of food service experience in remote environments
